Last updated: July 30, 2026
I currently run two feeds dedicated to music journalism. The first is Music Publications, which is intended to aggregate posts from media organizations who publish the work of multiple journalists under a single imprint. The second is Music Writing/Journalism, which aims to capture both posts by authors who self-publish (newsletter, blog, etc.) and links from authors whose work appears in other publications (especially helpful if the publication does not have a Bluesky account).
Both feeds are not strictly defined by a certain genre. However, they both trend towards covering independent music (music from indie record labels, DIY, etc.) and alternative genres. While there's still coverage of popular music, the feeds intend to capture a wide net of music.
More information on the design and intention on each feed is below. This post will be updated if/when I make large changes to the feeds (not including adding new accounts for the feeds to follow). Please reach out with questions/concerns/comments.
Music Publications Feed
Featuring music journalism, news, commentary, and criticism from publications that publish the work of multiple journalists under a single imprint.
This includes but is not limited to:
Independent magazines/blogs
Publications from larger mass media/digital media corporations (e.g., Rolling Stone, Pitchfork)
Legacy media (newspapers)
Two types of publications are included - publications that only cover music and publications with a dedicated music section.
For music-only publications:
Posts can be any type of content. This allows content made specifically for Bluesky to appear.
For publications with dedicated music section:
There are 2 requirements for a post to be included in the feed. First, there needs to be a link or a link embed in post. Second, the publication needs to structure their URLs so that an identifier (such as "/music") is included and can be used as a filter.
Unfortunately, these requirements mean that some publications cannot be included, as the goal of this feed is to only include music-related content.
Update - 7/28/26: Switched sorting method to new.
Currently sorted as a blend of popular posts and new posts.
This may change. Currently, the approach is blend in an effort to not only show popular posts, but to also highlight publications that may have lower engagement. However, it depends how effective this sort method is.
Bluesky
Music Writing/Journalism
Featuring individual writers, authors, and journalists, who publish music commentary and criticism, as well as popular blogs.
Aims to capture both posts by authors/small teams who self-publish (newsletter, blog, etc.) as well as links from authors whose work appears in other publications.
Only allows for posts that have an embed link.
This attempts to filter out irrelevant posts, e.g., if the journalist also uses their Bluesky account to make personal posts, not just link to their publication.
This is obviously a pretty crude method for moderation. Results aren't guaranteed, but at the very least, this should set you on the right path for discovery.
Update - 7/28/26: Switched sorting method to new.
Also currently sorted as blend.
This can also change depending on the intention/usefulness of the feed.
Bluesky
Independent Record Companies
Dedicated to independent record companies on Bluesky.
Currently only a list.
This is meant more so as a resource to catalog independent record companies on Bluesky, and less about being a feed to actively follow.

Accounts are added to the feeds by adding them to a Bluesky list. Here are the links in case you want to view the lists.
